THE ELECTRONIC GENERATION

I was having lunch in a restaurant today. A couple came in and immediately starting grabbing their cell phones. They ordered but throughout the entire meal they did not say a word to each other. They tweeted or texted or something on their phones. They finally spoke as they departed. Then a college age couple came in and the same scenario seemed to occur. I have been other places and a family sits down to eat and everyone grabs their phones or the parents grab their phones and the kids just sit there. No interaction at all as a family. So this is the electronic generation. I wonder if they will ever really connect with another person or only by electronic means. Sad observation of society today.
